10/24/2026 | St. Francois State Park | Bonne Terre, MO.

Everyone is invited to partake in some Halloween fun at St. Francois State Park's annual public Halloween event.

Activities will include a costume contest, trick-or-treating, and a campsite decorating contest. Regular camping fees apply for those who wish to camp at the park during the event, but the activities themselves are free. All activities will take place in the campground.

Event Schedule:

5-6 p.m. – costume contest

The costume contest photo booth will run from 5-6 p.m. at the campground amphitheater, located behind the showerhouse. Stop by to have your picture taken to be entered into the contest. There will be five categories: 0-3 years old, 4-7 years old, 8-12 years old, 13 years and older, and best group costume. Please keep costumes family-friendly.

Park staff will determine the winners and will deliver prizes to their campsites. Winning contestants who are not camping at the park will be contacted by phone.

6:30-8 p.m. – Trick-or-Treating

Trick-or-treating is open to the general public during this event. It will take place in the basic and electric loops of the campground from 6:30-8 p.m.

Campers are responsible for providing candy for trick-or-treaters. Participating campsites will be given a Halloween placard to post at time of registration. Trick-or-treaters should bring a flashlight and a bag for candy.

For the safety of trick-or-treaters, please avoid driving through the campground during this portion of the event.

8 p.m. – Best-Decorated Campsite Award Presented

Registered campers may participate in a Halloween-themed campsite decorating contest. Campsites will be judged by camping guests during the trick-or-treating. A prize for the best-decorated site will be presented at the winning campsite at 8 p.m.
