Join the national movement led by the American Battlefield Trust to preserve Civil War battlefields and historic sites across the United States on April 26 at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site. Volunteers will meet at the visitor center at 9:30 a.m. to sign up. From 10 a.m. to noon, we will work in small groups to remove dirt and vegetation from the brick foundation of the Summer Kitchen, remove degraded split-rail fencing near the visitor center and assist in the battle against invasive species threatening the site. Volunteers should dress comfortably to work and hike outside in the elements.
