First Day Hike
1/1/2026 | Stockton State Park | Dadeville, Mo.
Join park staff on the first day of the year for an invigorating hike on the North Loop of Sortor's Bluff Trail. We will meet at the trailhead at 9 am.
Located in the southwest portion of the park, Sortor's Bluff Trail runs through one of the property's most remote sections. It offers great views of the lake and plenty of opportunities to experience local wildlife, including bald eagles. The northern section of the trail consists of a 3.3-mile loop with a 0.4-mile spur leading to a scenic overlook of the lake. The trail features natural surfaces and is considered moderately difficult. Hikers may encounter loose rocks, slippery surfaces, drop-offs, and roots or downed vegetation. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and snacks.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required and can be completed using the link provided here. If the hike is canceled, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and posted on the Park and Site Status Map.
First Day Hikes are promoted by America's State Parks and are held at parks across the country at the start of each year. For more information about this hike, please call the park office at 417-276-4259.
