First Day Hike

Join historic site staff at 9 a.m. for a First Day Hike on the site's new Interpretive Trail. This easy 1-mile hike will include interpretation of historic mining structures and equipment and the long-term changes brought on by the lead industry. The trail features a mix of surfaces, including gravel and pavement. Portions of the trail have steep slopes. The hike will begin at the site office/gatehouse.
This event is free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather; wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes; and bring water and snacks. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
Registration is required and can be completed using the link provided here. If the hike is canceled, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and posted on the historic site's Facebook page and the Park and Site Status Map.
